The equivalent of a social media fatwa was issued yesterday by the British Muslim media outlet 5 Pillars, which prompted Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe to rage: “This disgracefully aggressive Islamic pressure group is now targeting John Cleese and his UK tour. I urge all Restore Britain members and supporters to back John”
Cleese – a bold and brave octogenarian – has insisted the tour will go on, writing: “I am Islamosceptic not Islamophobic. I hope people will enjoy the evening But no Salman Rushdie stuff please!”
